The Fort

We’ve been living in the house for little more than a week, now, and already we are becoming familiar with exactly what homeowners meant when they all joked around about how “It never ends.” Maybe it’s just me, but it seems like, a lot of the time anyway, when I’m a friend’s house, we BBQ, turn wrenches, or whatever, and end up relaxing in the yard with a drink and a smoke. I’m looking forward to that day at my own place. So far, it’s been nothing but cleaning, painting, unpacking, more painting, and more unpacking. I’m getting really familiar with where things are located at the nearest Home Depot, but I’d really like to be spending some of this money on the car(s)!

I feel so worn out lately. The mountain of things that need to be done seems insurmountable, but there was one small accomplishment made last night. Yeah, the picture is typical, craptacular camera phone material, but I picked up a couple of really nice shop lights at Home Depot while pricing wood for shelving projects. The lights are 48″ long and use the more modern T8 bulbs, which are touted to be much more efficient than traditional bulbs.

Let there be light!

At first glance, it looks as if the picture was taken from inside the garage in the middle of the day, but this picture was taken from outside the garage at about 2100hrs last night. You can’t see it due to the glare, but there is a table and two full sets of wheels stacked in front of the Galant, which makes designing some form of storage critical very soon. Plans are in the works for a rolling work bench/cart with a tough, steel surface to it, as well as shelving at the back wall, in addition to a good deal of the larger, less used items going up, up and away into the rafters. Might even design some storage space to be suspended below the rafters, directly above the Galant, but what if I want to try that rotisserie thing one day?

I’ll take any progress I can get, though.
