2012: 3 Words & a Theme Song

It’s a long way to the top…

Casudi shared a Chris Brogan post with me today, the first day of 2012. Apparently, he chooses three words to keep himself focused each year. News to me, but I really like this idea. I learned a lot in 2011, and made several personal discoveries which are influencing my aims for 2012.

If it is to be, it is up to me. The only thing I can control in this life is how I let things affect me. I must take responsibility for my life – for my future.

If I take action on just half these crazy ideas… I’ve not had cable TV in the house in since sometime in 2006, but that doesn’t mean I am immune to the guiles of Netflix streaming entertainment on-demand. See also, responsibility.

Leave the rat race behind, blaze new trails. This is the result of responsibility & action. If it is to be, it is up to me. By taking action on just half these crazy ideas, I could be free of the rat race, blazing new, more meaningful trails.

On theme songs
I don’t know that I’ll stick with this theme song for the year, but it pretty much sums up where I’m at right now, all things considered.

The best is yet to come.

  • That’s a stirring theme song, Brian. Love those Bag Pipes!  There are no short cuts if you are up to something extraordinary. Indeed it is a long way to the top, and the journey is infinitely rewarding. the sum of a person’s actions decides his future destiny and the sum of a persons thoughts and opinions decides his future feelings and attitude.  What’s done in the realm of thinking duplicates its tone in the realm of feelings and action.

  • Thank you, Rob. It’s a question of where am I now, where do I want to be, and what do I need to do right now to get there.

The best is yet to come.
