Bad drivers on the highway.
Do you own the road? You might think you do, but you don’t. You have to share it, and it’s much easier to go with the flow than stop in the middle of the highway like some sort of obstinate choad. Ever get stuck behind someone who isn’t even going the speed limit, but won’t get out of your way? Do you care even the slightest bit about their reasoning behind driving like that? It’s all you can do to get around them; they have no business behind the wheel. What about that speed demon in your rearview mirror? We can’t stand it when some retard is holding up traffic, but things change when some asshole is riding your bumper. Now you’re the one holding up traffic. Do you care?
Bad drivers on the information superhighway.
When a potential customer comes to you online for answers, if you’re not fast enough about giving him those answers, you had better believe he’s going around you any way he can. Here’s the rub: Go as slow as you want. Your customers don’t have to wait for a gap in the next lane to go around you. A quick click of the back button and you’re little more than an insignifcant blurb in the rearview mirror. At the opposite end of the spectrum, Internet Explorer 6 is plenty good enough for how we use the inernet around here, so that guy can just suck it up and deal, right? Why pay a premium for the best talent, only to hold them back when they try to help you?
