Also, I'm thinking there aren't a lot of models offered in that orange. Curious what your new purchase was? There's nothing wrong with going gray, either. It's far easier to keep clean than, say, a black or white car, so in a sense, it's actually a smart choice of color!

I certainly did not give up my individuality, however it would seem I wanted to go with the flow, send a signal out that I was with everyone else rather then 'go it alone' or 'do my own thing" . When it comes right down to it, I look for a balance between being an individual and being part of communities. So true what you say about the "herd" and being ever vigilant and I do see that maintaining individuality is a way to combat herd mentality.
