Some Peace of Mind
For the first time in about two months, I finally feel like I’m getting some traction. V and I picked up the insurance checks this morning. What a big relief! It’s been heart breaking to pass the Galant, partially stripped and weeping power steering fluid from under the core support, and not knowing when or if I’d get enough funding to bring it back into service. Now I know this proud tank of a Mitsubishi will return and, despite the loss of time handling this claim, Prescott still sounds like a viable option this fall.
With that said, there’s a lot that has to be done before I can even begin looking to source the parts needed to repair 195. This weekend has the movers arriving at the apartment to load up and deliver all our stuff to the house, so there’s still a lot of last minute packing to do. The following weekend will see V and I unpacking at the house and cleaning back at the apartment. Technically, we don’t have to be out of the apartment until the 8th, so we’ll probably end up spending a full day or so next weekend making sure the old place is spotless in order to get our deposit back.
It would be sweet if everything can be finished up with the move so that, on the 12th, I can do some poking around at the salvage yards. Aside from lashing the core support to a tree and pulling the bends back out, it’s pretty much a question of a new radiator, fan and sheet metal. Fenders, hood, bumper and grille aren’t too hard to find (I hope), but I just need the time to track them down. Which reminds me, I should be poring over the classified section on GalantVR4.org right now…
