March Is Booked Solid
…And it’s still a week away!
There’s still a full work week left in February, but it just hit me that March is pretty much booked solid. Not that you would find mention of it elsewhere on this site, but Vanessa and I just got word that we got the house we’ve been wanting since Christmas time. Also not mentioned on this site is the accident back on 02.04.08, wherein some kid in a Kia pulled a left turn in front of me and basically totaled the Galant.
Yes. That’s #195 in the background. Right behind the EMTs with the stretcher. It wasn’t a good night. While the Galant is pointing to the southeast in this picture, I was originally headed north. The world can afford to lose another Kia. GVR4s, on the other hand, not so much. More pictures of the damage to the car that matters can be found in the gallery.
Back to talk of March (since we’re always looking to the future on this site), here’s what’s on the agenda for the coming weeks…
Saturday, March 1st, 2008:
- Straighten up the garage (get all the twisted GVR4 sheetmetal tucked out of the way)
- Pull the built engine out of the Talon.
- Prepare the Talon to be rolled out into the public eye. (Hood, battery, and alarm)
- Send the race head from the Talon to the machine shop for decking.
Saturday, March 8th, 2008:
- Roll the Talon out into the public eye for the weekend.
- Park Kim’s Eclipse in the garage.
- Prep and paint the built engine (which is being installed in Kim’s Eclipse).
- Pull the stock engine from the Eclipse.
Sunday, March 9th, 2008:
- Mate race head to built bottom end, and install into Eclipse.
- Straighten up garage in preparation for another engine install.
Saturday, March 15th, 2008:
- Install stock engine from Eclipse into Talon.
That’s a whole lotta engine pulling and whatnot for a three week span. While the weather is still cooperating with us in Arizona, keep in mind that, during these three weeks, I will also be getting things packed around the apartment in preparation for the move to the house (on the far side of the valley) as well as negotiating with the other guy’s insurance carrier for the necessary funds to either rebuild or replace my limited edition Galant.
It’s gonna be insane. I’m more than likely going to be shopping for a beater to daily drive while all this is going on as I’m not going to be able to drive the Galant in it’s current state. Sheesh!
