After getting the cooling fan issues of the last couple days resolved, the only issue with 195 right now seems to be a small oil leak from the turbo oil drain line where it meets the oil pan. Since the car is able to maintain temperature on its own, I decided to drive it to work to see how things look on the road in the daylight.
With the hood off to scare the ricers, I made my way across town after a liesurely warm up in the driveway and quick top-off of coolant/water. Car is currently only running a modest 7psi of boost through the 14b turbo, but I made an effort to stay in vacuum as much as possible. Even so, it’s nice to hear the old BOV let out it’s high-pitched squeak again when shifting gears.
Tonight the Galant goes back into the garage, where it will await my return from the wedding in Las Vegas this weekend. Once I get back, first order of business is to re-torque the head studs and change the oil. From then on, I’ll be setting my sights on getting/doing the following before the end of the year…
- Alignment (car pulls to the right)
- New shifter bushings (very mushy gear selection right now)
- Battery relocation to trunk
- Hard intake pipe
- NACA duct in fender to feed intake
- Good set of stock headlights
- Smaller (1G) radiator
- Install SRT4 front mount intercooler (FMIC)
- Fuel system upgrades (injectors, pump and rewire)
- PocketLogger for proper tuning
- Re-do the brake lines, pads, rotors
